Position Summary

We are exclusively recruiting for a Vice President of Operations for our client, Northland Communications, a premier fiber optic telecommunications service provider in Central New York. In this role you will be responsible for leading and managing four operational departments including Outside Plant, Equipment, Network Services and Network Engineering, each with its own Sr. Manager and team of professionals. This person is tasked with promoting the Company values proposition and leveraging the resources to ensure that operations contribute to the profitable growth of the Company. Together with the managers on the team this leader will be expected to work across the Company to align operations efforts with the mission, vision and values of Northland and ensure cross-functional collaboration for the sake of the customer and employees.


  • Create, implement, and measure systems and processes to support Northland customers
  • Ensure customers are consistently delighted with Northland service while ensuring the process are repeatable, scalable, profitable, and aligned with the Operations and Northland’s purpose and vision
  • Contribute to and implement Operations strategy, objectives, and goals

  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA or equivalent preferred)
  • Ten+ years telecom experience (or equivalent, relevant operations experience).
  • Product knowledge of Avaya, Metaswitch, Cisco, Arista or Calix preferred
  • Proven success with predicting and managing daily workload and staffing levels of Operational teams
  • Proven success making previous organizations more efficient without sacrificing customer or team member experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and learning
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
