Position Summary

Our client, an industry leader providing hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems for material handling equipment and stationary backup power is hiring for an Electrical Test Technician to join their team. The Electrical Test Technician will gather components, assemble, test, and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical prototypes in order to correct operational deviations with minimal supervision by an engineer. This individual will conduct and monitor testing in accordance with various test plans. The ideal candidate will collect pertinent data electronically, prepare computer data files and complete necessary documentation including official lab notes from data found and make appropriate changes. This candidate must be able to effectively communicate with the cross-functional engineering teams to ensure proper communication.  This individual should be creative, self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments within a fast-paced engineering organization.

 

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and interpret a Bill of Material (BOM), wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Ability to assembly a prototype electrical PCB, both surface mount technology (SMT) and/or thru hole components or mechanical assembly
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot a prototype electrical PCB or mechanical assembly
  • Draft detailed schematics or drawings to document prototype changes
  • Repair and replace defective parts in various products; fuel cells and test fixtures that include switching power supplies, fans, batteries, and controllers
  • Test solid-state circuitry to find defective parts in digital and analog equipment; replacing defective parts
  • Maintain test equipment in an organized fashion including stocking inventory of components
  • Ability to test, calibrate, diagnose, and repair various devices
  • Display a willingness to learn and perform a variety of tasks
  • Ability to review technical documentation in order to find substitute and parts.
  • Communicate with engineering staff to resolve design details and problems
  • Create and implement test plans for verifying designs
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; making recommendations and implementing
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Education and Qualification

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree in a technical field or military certification is preferred
  • Five (5) + years of related work history preferably within a technology product manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in electrical/mechanical assembly and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of electrical components and mechanical/sheet metal parts is a plus
  • Knowledge of software MSOffice, LabView, Schematic capture (similar to Atlium, SolidWorks, OrCad, LabView, etc.) and SQL data base is desired
  • Experience with a structured Engineering Change Process and related procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess solid hands on approach to problem-solving
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Exceptional data analysis and presentation skills
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
